Day 2: Tone .

I've managed to finish a select pitch-accent system.

heres the rules for it.

  • Assign high pitch to all moras (= syllables, except that a long vowel is two moras, and a final -n or a double consonant takes up a mora too) (not definite yet on the endings, etc, currently working on just sullables.)
  • An accent is either a 'lone high vowel' "i, e" or some (all?) consonants +i, e. eg: ke, ki, re, ri, ne, ni, me, mi.
  • the moras after the accent are low.
  • endings that end with consonant +h is low.
  • if the second moras is high, the first is low.
  • all acents are high.

an example is one of my few 'formed words'

Ghilëadh (fortress) [GHIL: house] ë [ADH:strong].

  1. (3 moras) HHH
  2. accent = ë so HHL
  3. the adh is already low, so no change.
  4. the second moras is high, so the first is low LHL
